Manual therapies

Massage

Used to relieve spasm, trigger points and stimulate muscles, it also serves to relax the animal and aids compliance.

Stretching

Passive stretches lead to increased range of motion (RoM), improved flexibility and greater energy stored in the muscles. It mobilises scar tissue and decreases adhesions. Regular stretching can improve reaction times, increase muscle bulk and reduce risk of injury.

Kinesio Taping

Kinesio tape is applied after treatment and remains in place for 2-3 days (depending on the coat and work the horse is doing.) 'K-tape' can be used to encourage recruitment or inhibit the use of a muscle, disperse the swelling and pain associated with bruising / muscle damage or to support joints, ligaments and tendons.

PROM (Passive Range of Motion)

Careful mobilisation of the joints can improve RoM, increase nutrition and therefore joint health.
